25 Feb Security & Surveillance Systems for Offshore Facilities – Reach Integrated Awarded CCTV & Surveillance System for Berantai FPSO Operated by PETROFAC & SapuraKencana
The Berantai Gas Field is located in Block PM309 of the South China Sea, about 150km offshore Peninsular Malaysia and produced first gas in October of the year 2012. The field is being developed in two phases under a nine year risk service contract (RSC) awarded in January 2011 to PETROFAC, Kencana Energy (Kencana) and Sapura Energy Ventures (Sapura). PETROFAC holds 50% stake in the RSC, while Kencana and Sapura hold 25%, each. Kencana and Sapura further merged to form the SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad group. Under the same RSC, PETRONAS remains the project owner for the Berantai Gas Field, while the contractors/developers (PETROFAC, SapuraKencana) are the service providers. The award of this RSC also marked the start of development for the country’s marginal oil and gas fields.
Phase one of the Berantai Gas Field Development included the construction of a Well Head Platform (WHP), a Floating Production Storage & Offloading (FPSO) facility and drilling of 13 wells. The FPSO concerned was converted at Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard and was officially named Berantai FPSO in April 2012. Berantai FPSO has a crude processing capacity of 35,000 barrels per day and a gas export capacity of 150mmscfd.
Under the above arrangement, PETROFAC has today awarded Reach Integrated with the task of Design, Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of CCTV Surveillance Systems under its ISPS Compliance & Process Monitoring Requirement for Berantai Field Operations.
The CCTV Surveillance System consists of cameras rated fit for use at both safe or hazardous areas with day, night as well as thermal imaging capabilities. In addition, the architecture of the entire CCTV & surveillance systems have also been provisioned with features such as:-
a. Expandable and spare channels for future expansion plans.
b. Combination of conventional & optical signal transmissions with the simultaneous deployment of coaxial as well as fiber optic interfaces.
c. Multiple and expandable remote monitoring, playback, storage and control setup.
d. State of the art and bundled-in monitoring mechanisms for real-time and enhance diagnostic of the entire CCTV & surveillance network.
