14 Apr Telecommunication Systems for Offshore Facilities – Reach Integrated Awarded Wireless Ethernet Radio System for MISC’s Tanker cum Oil Production Facility
Marginal Marine Production Unit or MAMPU is a concept adopted by MISC Berhad (one of the world’s leading international shipping and maritime conglomerates with principal businesses that include the ownership and operation of ships, tank terminals and offshore floating facilities) where a standard oil tanker will be converted and provided with minimal upgrades and turned into a fit for purpose oil production facility for deployment and usage at marginal oil fields. Thus, MISC’s first marginal marine production unit known as MAMPU 1 (prior to conversion was known as St. Nikolai) will be built and completed for this sole purpose.
With this objective in mind, Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd or MMHE (which is MISC’s marine conversion / offshore construction subsidiary unit) has today awarded Reach Integrated with a contract to provide Wireless Ethernet Radio or WER System for MAMPU 1.
The WER System shall serve as a point to point link between MAMPU 1 and its corresponding producing wellhead platform, where it will provide a bridge for both voice communication and data transmission services between these two offshore facilities using the WiFi frequency band.
