05 Jan Telecommunication Systems for Offshore Facilities – Reach Integrated Awarded Wireless Ethernet Radio (WER) System for FPSO OPHIR
The OPHIR Field is located off the coast of Peninsular Malaysia, it is a marginal field when developed will consist of one manned Floating, Production, Storage & Offloading (FPSO) Facility and one unmanned Wellhead Platform (WHP); whereby both the FPSO & WHP facilities will be connected via a flexible flowline. The developer & operator of this OPHIR Field is Ophir Production Sdn Bhd (OPSB); a joint venture company formed between Octanex Energy Exploration, Scomi D&P Sdn Bhd and Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd.
Under a Risk Sharing Contract (RSC), on the 11th of June 2014, PETRONAS has given consent to OPSB to proceed with the field development of this OPHIR Field. Under this concept and approval by PETRONAS, OPHIR FPSO will be deployed to the OPHIR Field to take the role & functionality as the manned FPSO for this project; and under such need, Tresenergy Sdn Bhd was awarded a contract by Ophir Production Sdn Bhd (OPSB) for the Provision of Leased for a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Facility.
In turn, Tresenergy Sdn Bhd has today awarded Reach Integrated with the task of “Design, Supply, Assemble & Local Test, Pre-Commission and Offshore Commissioning” of the required Wireless Ethernet Radio (WER) System for this OPHIR FPSO as well as the associated & necessary integration and tie-in works; where all monitoring & control activities for OPHIR Wellhead Platform will be performed at the control station on-board this OPHIR FPSO.
The main purpose of the WER System shall be to ensure that all process, control, emergency, safety and shut-down systems installed at the OPHIR WHP can be effectively monitored and control from OPHIR FPSO continuously & reliably under all possible operating conditions via this WER data transmission link established between these two offshore facilities.
