19 May Drainage & Irrigation Projects – Penstocks and Actuators for Kampung Ban / Mulaut Flood Alleviation Project (Phase 2) : Sungai Tampoi Station
Kampung Ban / Mulaut Flood Alleviation Project (Phase 2) is one of various flood alleviation projects under the National Development Programme 2007-2012 implemented by the Public Works Department under the Ministry of Development, Negara Brunei Darussalam.
The objective of this project is to allow authorities with the capability to monitor rainfall and water levels with real-time data once the drainage work in flood-prone areas in Kg Mulaut is completed and equipped with technology that could serve as an early flood warning system.
Amongst others, seven kilometres of reinforced concrete trunk drain and supporting infrastructure will be built along the roads of Ban 1A-3A and Ban 4-6 in Kg Mulaut. Along with the construction of these drains, remote rainfall stations and remote river stage stations, known collectively as a hydrological stations, will also be established. Where one of these stations will be called Sungai Tampoi Station.
The hydrological stations that will be constructed under this project will include a river sensor, that senses the water level inside the drainage channel. Aside from relaying data to the Department of Drainage and Sewerage (DDS), the sensor can also be equipped with alarms that go off when the water goes above a certain point. In addition, rainfall gauge installed at the station will complement the river sensors and give the DDS a better assessment of the situation.
Under the above scheme, Reach Integrated has today been awarded the package for the design, manufacture and testing of penstock & actuator assemblies for the Sungai Tampoi Station involving:-
a. 1700mm(W) x 1500mm(H) Stainless Steel Penstocks.
b. ROTORK IQ35F16A Range Actuators.
